bulb. where bright ideas come to light.

Nothing kills the credibility of work faster than mistakes.
The real goal of editing is to eliminate anything that might distract, give pause, or question credibility. Editing should never be about hacking or slashing but instead about shedding light on the work you created.

My goal is to keep your readers fully engaged in your story.
Ready to see the light?

let's start working together!

beta reader.
As a beta reader, I provide feedback on your finished manuscript before you release it to its ultimate destination. The fact is, as a writer, you spend so much time on your own manuscript that you can’t see it objectively — no matter how diligently you self-edit. I will provide you with a written report and full annotates your text to show my reaction to specific sections of your manuscript. My goal is to provide targeted feedback to advance you and your work.

copy editor.
As a copy editor, I become your very own grammatical sounding board. I will meticulously read over what you’ve written, note places where spelling, spacing, or grammar is incorrect, and will suggest changes to awkward phrasing. I will also let you know if a particular section needs more information, citations, a little tweaking, or even a little less fluff. My goal is to pick apart your hard-earned creation and to squabble over the nuances of journalistic style guides vs. literary style guides to make sure your writing is thorough and well thought out.

freelance.
As a writer, I take words seriously. I thrive off ideas, concepts, and goals. With my journalism background, I have written magazine and newspaper articles, e-mail campaigns, blog posts (not talking about my own), speeches, and public presentations. I’m a lover of lifelong learning, which is another reason I love writing! I’m excited to see what I can learn from you.

grant writer.
I heard it once said that “grant writers are the superheroes of fundraising.” Well, allow me to don a cape and attempt a rescue.  As your grant writer, I will work on aligning a strategic plan for your organization with your grant seeking strategy and calendar. I’ll draft narrative sections with crazy word and character limits (that’s the fun part!). With the help of my financial guru husband, I’ll draft budgets that tell the story of the proposed program. Lastly, I’ll craft program evaluations that will be included in and funded through the proposal. My cape is hanging nearby; just let me know when to grab it.

story editor.
As a story editor, I work to help bring out the best in your story, and to address its weaknesses and potential areas that may require further development. In most cases, writers become extremely focused on their story and the script, and this is a good thing! However, this can also mean you’re probably working in isolation and can lose objectivity and the ability to see “the big picture.” I can help you! My job is to ensure that you are telling your story in the best possible way, and that it reaches its full potential.
